Knitting pattern: Sailor Blouse
The Sailor Blouse knits up quickly in stockinette stitch, bottom-up in the round. A cute contrasting trim worked in seed stitch frames the neckline in a soft curve.
The front v-neck has been combined with a square neckline in the back to echo the look of sailor costumes from the past while raw stockinette hems add a bit of contemporary naughtiness. In cotton it‘s a perfect top for a summer adventure. Short cap sleeves will even protect your sholders from sunburn. Worked in wool it will layer nicely over long-sleeved tops on cold days.
Work this fitted tee in your size for a loose and airy fit (5cm/2" positive ease) or one size smaller for a sexy fitting top. The Sailor Blouse features vertical bust darts and at bust level a bit more room in the front than in the back.
Sport weight yarn.
For the body: Lang Yarns Golf (100% Cotton, 125m/137yds per 50g ball) in blue (Main Colour).
For the trim: Schachenmayr Nomotta Catania (100% Cotton, 125m/137yds per 50g ball) in ivory (Contrast Colour).
21 sts x 28 rows = 10 x 10cm / 4 x 4" in stockinette stitch with bigger needles.
approx. 4(5,5,5,5,6,6,6,7,7) balls of Main Colour and approx. 1 ball of Contrast Colour for the trim.
The pattern covers 10 sizes ranging from 81cm / 32" to 127cm / 50" bust circumference, instructions for optional horizontal bust darts are included.
3mm (US size 2.5) and 4mm (US size 6) circular needles.
6 stitch markers, 2 stitch holders, sewing thread and needle, safety pins.
You should be able to: knit, purl, decrease (k2tog, p2tog, ssk) and to work in the round.
I walk you through the increases used in this pattern and how to attach the trim to the neckline is being explained in a photo-tutorial.
